Mallorca is the largest island in the Balearic archipielago. The Romans called is “insulamaior” (major island) hence it´s actual name.
Along with Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera it forms the most easterly of Spanish autonomous regions – Balearic Islands.
The island has an area of 3640 km² and is the most populated of the archipielago.
The capital of the island and region is Palma.
Distances from north to south and east to west vary between 90 and 120km.
The island is tourist destination of international fame due to the beautiful beaches, clean crystal clear sea, mild climate and outstanding landscapes.
There are two areas of highlands – the highest is the Sierra de Tramuntana in the northwest and the other is the Sierra de Levante in the east.
The island is perfect for all types of activities both on land or the water.
